Last updated: March 18, 2026 Privacy Policy This Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data when you use our mobile game app and related backend services. 1) Controller Controller: Cherrytap e.U. Contact info below 2) Data We Process We process the following data to operate the app and provide support: Account ID: a generated identifier for your account. Display name: a name you choose to represent you in the app. It may be shown to other users in leaderboards, and, if you share user-created puzzle levels, together with those levels. Device model: used for bug fixing, troubleshooting, and improving compatibility. Game progress & inventory: including item quantities. Inventory/progress change records: including changes triggered by in-app purchases, used to investigate issues and provide user support (e.g., restoring items/progress). In-app purchase records (limited): product and transaction references needed to grant purchased content. Payment details are handled by the app store and are not stored by us. User-created puzzle levels (if you use those features): puzzle levels you create, upload, or share in the app, together with related metadata such as your Account ID, display name, timestamps, and moderation actions. Email address (optional): if you choose to add one, it is used for account recovery / progress restoration on another device. Support communications: information you send us when you contact support. 3) Purposes and Legal Bases We process personal data for the following purposes and legal bases: To provide the service and fulfill the user contract: account operation, saving progress/inventory, enabling recovery via email, displaying leaderboards (where applicable), creating, storing, and sharing user-created puzzle levels (where applicable), and granting purchase entitlements. To provide support, ensure security, and fix bugs: troubleshooting, investigating inventory/progress issues, moderating user-created puzzle levels, preventing abuse, maintaining system integrity, and operating safety and moderation features. To comply with legal obligations, where applicable. 4) Hosting, Recipients, and Locations Our backend is hosted on virtual servers in Germany and France (EU/EEA). Hosting providers act as processors under Art. 28 GDPR. In-app purchases are processed by the relevant app store (e.g., Apple/Google). We receive only the purchase information needed to grant items and provide support. Moderation and safety providers: We may use third-party service providers to help us moderate user-generated content and enforce safety rules. Where we do so, display names may be processed by these providers solely for moderation and safety purposes. We do not intentionally transfer your data outside the EU/EEA. If this changes, we will apply appropriate safeguards required by the GDPR. 5) Server log files When you use our app, technical information is automatically stored in so-called server log files. This includes your time spent in the app (including date and time), the app features you use, and your language settings and operating system. We use these logs solely to operate, maintain, and secure the app and to improve its performance. The log data is not used to identify you, is deleted after 30 days, and is not shared with third parties. We do not store IP addresses or other directly identifying data in these server logs. 6) Storage Period We store data only as long as necessary for the purposes above: Account ID, display name, device model, Email address (if added), and game progress/inventory: as long as the account exists and the service is provided. User-created puzzle levels and related metadata: as long as needed to provide the level creation/sharing features, operate the service, and enforce safety and abuse-prevention rules. Change records and support communications: as long as needed to resolve issues and for reasonable follow-up, then deleted or anonymized unless legal obligations require retention. If you delete your account, we will delete personal data associated with your account and user-created puzzle levels, or irreversibly anonymize it so that it can no longer be linked to you, except where retention is needed for legal obligations, dispute resolution, security or fraud prevention, or limited backup retention. 7) Children Our services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect or process personal data from children. Because children may still access the services despite them not being directed to children, we apply moderation and safety measures designed to help keep users safe (including children who may end up using the services). 8) Your Rights You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and to object (Arts. 15–21 GDPR). To exercise your rights, contact us (info below). You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. 9) No Automated Decision-Making We do not use automated decision-making or profiling with legal or similarly significant effects. 10) Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will be available in the app or on the official app page.
